Surgical needs are rarely one-size-fits-all. If a patient requires a procedure not listed on the Veterinary Surgical Options website, Dr. Danova invites collaborative consultation with the referring veterinary team. Many additional surgeries can be coordinated based on the partner hospital’s equipment, staff support, monitoring capabilities, and the specifics of the patient.
Procedures that may be reviewed
Examples of procedures that may be reviewed case by case include:
- Cystotomy for removal of uroliths or bladder stones
- Selected ectopic ureter cases
- Enucleation for blind painful globes or ocular neoplasia
- Forelimb, hindlimb, or partial digit amputation
- Perineal or prescrotal urethrostomy for feline urethral obstruction cases
- Diaphragmatic hernia repair, if the hospital has appropriate ventilatory support
- Other procedures based on the patient, diagnostics, and facility capabilities

How the review process works
To request a custom case review, send:
- Patient records
- Diagnostic imaging
- Relevant lab work
- Current medications
- Photos when useful
- Your hospital’s surgical inventory list
- Monitoring, anesthesia, and ventilatory support details when relevant
- Preferred timing and scheduling constraints
Dr. Danova reviews the information and calls the referring veterinarian directly to discuss feasibility. If the case is accepted, VSO schedules a block of time at the facility by arrangement.
When another referral path is safer
Some cases require equipment, staffing, critical care, overnight monitoring, or specialty support that a partner hospital cannot safely provide. If VSO cannot perform the procedure safely in that environment, Dr. Danova will guide the referring team toward the nearest appropriate referral center whenever possible.
A practical option for uncommon cases
The goal of custom surgical coordination is not to force every case into an on-site model. The goal is to help referring veterinarians get a clear, experienced surgical opinion about whether an on-site procedure is realistic, safe, and appropriate.
